There are three storage routes worth considering, plus the airport's luggage-cart service. A mobile bag valet collects your bags and brings them back where you want them. A booking network stores them at a partner shop or hotel. Amtrak offers temporary storage at many staffed stations, though its Charleston page does not list it.

One common version of this problem: check-out is at 11 a.m., the flight is at 8 p.m., and that leaves nine hours of Charleston to enjoy with two suitcases in tow.

This guide covers what each option actually does, what the operators publish about price and policy, and the one thing to sort out with your host before you arrive. Prices and policies below were taken from each operator's own website on September 24, 2026.

What Are Your Luggage Storage Options in Charleston?

Four, and they suit different situations. The table sorts them, and the sections below give the detail.

How Does a Mobile Bag Valet Work?

They come to you. Charleston BagValet, the local operator in this category, meets you curbside at the place and time you choose, inventories your items, and secures each piece with a customizable tamper-proof lock.

Bags go to a climate-controlled storage area that the company says is not accessible to the public, then come back to you curbside at the drop-off time and place you picked when booking. The company describes itself as a completely mobile business operating across the greater Charleston area, so there is no storefront to walk into.

At the airport they have a designated spot outside the baggage claim doors, between passenger pickup and the rideshare zone, and they text you when you land. For the return leg, bags go to their unit at the airport around 30 minutes before your scheduled time, then get dropped curbside at departures.

Know before you book: The published pay structure is a daily flat rate per person for up to 12 hours, with extra fees possible for oversized items such as golf bags, extra suitcases and baby equipment, and a $49.99 after-hours fee. Cancellations have to go through a phone call rather than email, they ask for 24 hours' notice to avoid a same-day cancellation fee, and no-shows are charged in full.

How Do the Booking Networks Work?

You book a slot online and leave your bags with a partner business, usually a shop, cafe or hotel front desk. Two networks cover Charleston and both publish their rates.

Bounce advertises storage in Charleston from $2.75 per bag per day, across more than 20 locations, including spots in Cannonborough-Elliottborough and near the train station, with free cancellation and up to $10,000 in bag protection. From means the lowest rate, not the price at every location.

LuggageHero prices from $1.49 per hour or per day, adds a one-time service fee of $1.99 per bag at checkout, and includes a bag guarantee of up to $500 against damage, loss and theft. Multi-day rates are quoted separately at booking. Its partner locations do not take cash, and you pay when you collect.

Know before you book: Both are booking platforms, not the businesses holding your bag. Opening hours belong to the partner location, so check them before you book an early drop or a late pickup.

ONE RULE: Rates and policies here are what each operator published in September 2026. Check the current price on the operator's own site before you book, because these change without notice.

Can You Store Bags at the Airport or the Train Station?

Neither one is a safe assumption. Amtrak offers temporary bag storage at many staffed stations, but its current Charleston station page does not display a specific luggage-storage listing or fee. If you are traveling by train, confirm directly with Amtrak before relying on the station.

Charleston International Airport lists self-service luggage carts in baggage claim near Carousel 1 and on the ground level of the parking deck, at $6 per cart with a 25 cent refund when you return one. Its amenities page does not list a baggage storage room or lockers.

The Charleston Amtrak station sits at 4565 Gaynor Avenue in North Charleston, so it suits train travelers and is awkward for anyone staying downtown. Checked baggage service is listed there, which is a different thing from leaving bags for the day.

What About Your Vacation Rental?

Ask, and ask before you travel rather than on the day. Check-in at every CHC home is 4 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m., and early check-in and late check-out are not guaranteed.

That is not a brush-off. It is a cleaning schedule. A home that someone leaves at 11 a.m. has to be turned around before the next guests arrive, and the honest answer depends on the day and the property.

So tell us your arrival time when you book and we will tell you what is possible for your dates. If the answer is no, you will know early enough to book a valet or a storage slot instead of standing on a sidewalk working it out.

How Do You Plan the Last Day?

Work backwards from the flight. Storage is the easy part once the timings are clear.

  1. Pack the night before. Check-out is 11 a.m. and nobody enjoys packing at 10:40.
  2. Book ahead. Booking early gives you more choice of location and pickup time.
  3. Match the pickup to your ride. A valet can meet you at the airport. A shop drop point means going back for the bags.
  4. Leave a buffer. Give yourself a reasonable gap between luggage pickup and your flight.

FAQs

Two reliable routes and one to check first. A mobile bag valet collects your bags and returns them where you ask. A booking network stores them at a partner shop or hotel. Amtrak offers temporary storage at many staffed stations, but confirm Charleston directly before counting on it.

The airport's own amenities page lists self-service luggage carts at $6 per cart, with a 25 cent refund when you return one. It does not list a baggage storage room or lockers, so plan to store bags in the city rather than at the terminal.

It depends on the type. Booking networks publish rates starting from a few dollars a bag per day, plus a service fee in some cases. Mobile valets charge a flat daily rate per person instead. Check the current price on the operator's own site before booking.

Sometimes, but never assume it. Check-in at CHC homes is 4 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m., and early check-in is not guaranteed. Ask us before you arrive and we will tell you what is possible for your dates rather than promising it in advance.

Store the bags, then enjoy the city without carrying them around. That gap is one common reason travelers look for luggage storage. A mobile valet can collect from your rental at check-out and meet you at the airport later the same day.

Amtrak offers temporary bag storage at many staffed stations, but the current Charleston station page does not display a specific luggage-storage listing for CHS. If you plan to use the station for storage, confirm availability directly with Amtrak before your trip.
